These are common characters one can play in the popular online video game World of Warcraft. I play this game with my adult sons. It’s a fun way to stay in touch with them remotely, as they are now scattered about the country pursuing their lives.
We also play with several others. A group of us (usually 10-25 in number) form what is called a “raid” team. We must strategize and work together to defeat elite bosses that yield in-game treasure. This requires verbal communication, using a VoIP server. Over time, relationships are built.
One night, between battling monsters, a young woman brought up a sensitive matter about a friend in crisis. Knowing my boys and I are Christians, she inquired if we would pray. So we did, right then, aloud, and with the rest of the team. The young woman was so moved that she asked if we could teach her more about our faith! We sent her a nice Bible with her name engraved on it. Within a few days, she had read through the first 12 chapters of Genesis and had many questions, including some tough ones. I am not sure if she is saved yet, but she knows Who to see.
In Mark 16:15, Jesus says, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Perhaps this also includes into the World of Warcraft.
