ID-10082777If we put a microphone in front of you right now and asked you to give your personal salvation testimony in five minutes, could you do it? Telling your story is a primary part of evangelism.

I Peter 2:9 says: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

The entire purpose of being a “chosen race, priesthood, holy nation, and his own possession” is for the purpose of evangelism. The word “proclaim” is the term from which we get the word evangelize. This verse is saying that our purpose for being on planet earth is to evangelize (proclaim) about how wonderful God is and tell the story of how He called us out of darkness into light.

Could you do that? Your testimony can be quite simple. (1) tell what your life was like before salvation; (2) tell the story of how you came to Christ; and (3) tell about what God has done in your life since then. If you have never told your story before, you might want to practice in a safe environment… try it a church with a small group or tell another believer you want to practice. All believers should be ready to give the story of God’s grace in their life. This is a foundational skill for someone who is doing evangelism.

May I encourage you to get ready for the “mic” to be put in front of you?
