I was chatting with a businessman who had lived in a predominately Muslim country and asked him about evangelism there. His answer surprised me. He indicated that there was far more interest in that Muslim country than in England where he presently lived. Muslims would talk about spiritual things and the English didn’t.
We have a tendency to pre-judge who might be interested in God and thus limit our conversations to people we assume might be open. First of all, that is a rejection of the fact that God told us to speak to everyone, everywhere. Secondly, we just cannot second-guess who might be willing to talk. We just never know.
One of the traits of evangelists is that they talk to everyone. We might be tempted to think they see more people turn to Christ because they are an evangelist, but it might just be because they talk to more people than the average Christian. They may not see a higher percentage of people come to Christ than the rest of us but they are willing to talk with anyone.
So instead of guessing who might be ready to listen to you… Just talk.
