Gate agents at the airport need a raise. They are the recipients of some incredible abuse…. especially when there is a disruption to flight schedules. For some reason, people think they can take it out on an agent who has absolutely no control over the circumstances of the delay. Hateful fury is poured out in torrents. What if a Christian joined the angry mob?

Paul told Titus to “show perfect courtesy toward all people” (Titus 3:2). The word “courtesy” carries the connotation of being polite, gracious and respectful. Ultimately it is the outworking of love which puts others first. It is the practical evidence of being controlled by the Spirit.

This is just normal Christian living and it is especially critical when it comes to evangelism. Obnoxious, angry Christians have a hard time doing evangelism. When frustration spills over to anger and abusive demands, the believer surrenders his platform for evangelism. It is incongruous to shout at someone and then turn around and give them the good news.
