There are two basic approaches to evangelism. You can either program for it or just talk to people one at a time. Churches may organize events like Christmas programs, concerts, evangelistic services, street meetings, and outreach programs. Those can be good. But personal evangelism is by far the most effective approach all over the world. in fact there is no other strategy that comes close.
That should be encouraging. Most of us are not good at putting together programs. They cost a lot of money. They take a lot of work. Few can pull this off. But personal evangelism is within the reach of all of us. All of us know how to talk.
With personal evangelism, there is no need to be upset if cities will not let us display the ten commandments or decorate for Christmas. It is not a big deal if schools do not allow Christian clubs. These are all programs. While they have their place and can be effective, it is critical to realize that plain vanilla everyday personal evangelism is far more impactful. Nothing stands in the way of building a relationship with a lost person and talking with them one-on-one.
