On Record

ID-10090612We’ve hoped for it, prayed for it, and worked for it for several months. Now it’s here. It’s not right around the corner any longer; it’s on the corner! We can see it. We can hear it. We can feel it.

Sunday afternoon my wife and I will break bread with a couple of friends, one of whom is a churched unbeliever. After we enjoy some table fellowship, we will share a good a cup of coffee and conversation. We’ll discuss, among other things, his experiences with church, Christ and Christianity. Best of all, we will video record it.

Our part of the world is often called “the Bible belt.” (Actually, this particular area might better be named “the Bible belt buckle!”) Most everybody down here says that they are Christian. That’s one reason we don’t use that term. We tell others that we are followers of Jesus. That way, he’s the focus rather than our church subculture. But, I wander.

Anyway, our churched culture frames many lost people’s ideas, outlooks and expectations of Christ and believers. And quite often, Satan uses that framework as a barrier to belief. It’s part of his murderous strategy of blinding the minds of unbelievers.

So, we’re going to explore our unbelieving friend’s perspective on our faith and subculture. We’ve come this far because of a brother in our fellowship who grasps the power of relating with the lost. For a long, long time, he has befriended, aided, listened to, and encouraged our guest. And though he is not yet willing to trust Christ, he is quite willing to discuss it and record it.

So, that’s it. Team with us. Pray for clear communication. Deep connection. His salvation. We’ll let you know how it goes.
