How to identify an evangelist

It is estimated that 10% of Christians are gifted as evangelists.  The goal is for 100% of Christians to be involved in evangelism but there are some who are really gifted in evangelism.   We need the 10% who are gifted to help the 90% who are not.

The evangelist’s role is to:

  • INSPIRE:  It is motivational to be around evangelists.  Their stories are fantastic. Evangelists need a “platform” in your church to tell their stories.
  • INSTRUCT:  According to Ephesians 4:11-12 the main job of an evangelist is to train the 90% to do evangelism.  It is expecting a lot for people to do something for which they have not been trained.
  • INVOLVE   The 90% need someone to model evangelism. Someone to hold their hand. Someone to show the way.  Training is more than having a class on evangelism.
